Tamil Nadu chief minister K. Edappadi Palaniswami announced board exam 2021 cancellation for classes 9th,10th and 11th standard. The students are graded up into the next class without annual examination.

In view of COVID-19, all the educational institutions including schools were shut since March. Due to the pandemic situation, only board exams were conducted. The remaining students were promoted, without any examinations. And the students were now attending online classes for the academic year 2020-2021. Later, the government has asked Schools to send feedback regarding the reopening of schools.
